I know the author personally. I also know him to be a godly and sincere student of the Word with a special interest in eschatology (the study of the last things). I have lived with this book on and off for the past three years to allow its message to ruminate in my mind and heart. Robert Marwire is a man in search for the truth regarding the Return of our Lord as revealed in Scripture. It is for this reason that I now respond to the calculations of his book. I think that his belief in the precision of our God is appropriate. God has proven Himself over and over to keep His promises (prophecies) in the fullness of times in order to demonstrate His sovereignty over human history, man's affairs, and meaningful events. His Messiah WILL come and His Kingdom WILL triumph over the kingdoms of mankind, all at the proper time. The question Mawire addresses is, "When?" Until further historical developments, I think it would have been wiser for him to have discerned a window of probability of our Lord's Return, rather than a specific year, 2026, as Mawire has boldly done. Some of his calculations, I am afraid, are amiss. Because from his date of creation, 4026 BC, to his projected year of Messiah's Coming, 2026 AD, is actually 6052 years, not precisely 6000 years as he calculates, his Genesis Template and his Noah Template are incorrect. This same BC to AD miscalculation also invalidates his Sodom and Gomorrah Template. Because historians record the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem under Nebuchadnezzar as having taken place in 587-586 BC rather than 600 BC as Mawire suggests, his Erection of the Abomination of Desolation Template is also a miscalculation. The remainder of the author's calculations are most intriguing (and novel, to be sure) by which he arrives at the year 2026. Could he be correct? As I stated above, until current events line up more clearly with prophesied events, it is anyone's guess. IF Jesus began His ministry somewhere between the years 26-30 AD, and IF the beginning of His ministry marked the beginning of Day Five from Creation (some argue that it was His resurrection or even the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD that marked the beginning of Day Five from Creation), then one could certainly make the case that Day Six from Creation would come to its completion sometime within the window of 2026-2030. Using Mawire's line of reasoning (not necessarily my own), anywhere between 2026-2030 would be a preferred window for our Lord's Return. At this time wisdom dictates that serious students of the Word restrain themselves from attempting to predict the specific year of the Lord Jesus' Coming. The God of Abraham will not be constrained by men's reasonings or timetables. We are all making "educated" guesses right now. Many have looked foolish who predicted Jesus' return in 1988, 2000, 2007, 2012, 2015, 2017, etc. ad infinitum. We can rest assured that the Lord will make all things clearer as The Day approaches. Our responsibility is not to predict, but to prepare. Not to escape, but to evangelize. To this end Mawire's sense of urgency is appropriate in every age. I, for one, would rejoice if his prediction, in the final analysis, proves correct. Maranatha!
Thank God for the revelation of the Messianic Timetable and that we can KNOW for certain where we are in time. There is simply too much precision in the prophecies of the end of days to turn away from this as another "date-setting" dissertation by an over-zealous religious fanatic. We have the Word of God laid out in plain simple language to show us exactly where we are. Dr. Mawire is one of the "wise" the prophet Daniel refers to in the end days that will understand the prophecy sealed for the endtimes. The Church needs to take heed and prepare for the exploits that God will work. What an encouraging word in the final chapters!
I got the book for my husband for Christmas at his request and he has enjoyed it very much and has shared what he has learned with everyone we know.
Book was fair. I found some of the data and theology to fundamental for my tastes and was unable to finish reading the book for this reason.
The book is well researched and brings the end time line into focus with clear information from the Word of God.Provides an opportunity for everyone to better understand the time we are in.
